Religious Life

We offer a number of ways to foster spiritual growth and understanding, as well as religious commitment and action.

Willamette University was founded by Jason Lee and the Methodist missionaries, who opened the Oregon territory to U.S. settlement in the late 1830s.

True to our roots, we recognize the significance of religion in personal and community life. Our Office of the Chaplains is charged to work with persons of all religious persuasions -- and of none. Proselytizing is not part of our program; progress along one's own path is.
