1. Unparalleled Access to the Highest Levels of State Government

Willamette is the only law school in the country located across the street from the State Capitol, the Supreme Court, the Appeals Court and the Department of Justice.  We're also in the midst of various county and state agencies.  As a result, students benefit from classes taught by practicing judges and attorneys who work at the highest levels of government and in private practice.

2. Real World Experience and Enrichment

At Willamette, students get more than legal theory.  They get the kind of practical training that sets them apart from graduates at other law schools, whether through a valuable externship or by working in one of our pro bono clinics. Our students come from a variety of backgrounds and at Willamette, they can pursue their individual interests and get involved in student organizations, legal journals, Moot Court and Willamette Public Interest Law or study abroad in China, Ecuador or Germany.

3. An Affordable Legal Education at a Private Law School

Students receive a high quality private education priced at a competitive tuition that is lower than most of our West Coast competition.  Generous scholarships enable the most talented law students to enjoy a Willamette education at a cost that is less than at many other private law schools, and also less than many state-supported law schools.  Local housing and rents in the beautiful Willamette Valley is significantly lower than those of other West Coast law school cities.

4. Impressive Faculty Who Love to Teach

Our faculty members are internationally recognized experts in sports law, sustainability law and conflicts of law.  Student/teacher ratios are among the lowest of all law schools in the nation.  Our students receive individualized attention and the chance to work as researchers for professors who produce groundbreaking scholarship in human rights, law reform for the European Union, First Amendment issues, immigrant farmworkers rights, dispute resolution and environmental justice
