MBA Brown Water Weekend
Salem, Oregon

The Atkinson Brownwater tradition includes three days of fun events and social activities that culminate the end of the semester at the Atkinson Graduate School of Management.

On Friday, there will be a golf tournament in the afternoon and a semi-formal dinner and Casino Night in the evening. The weekend concludes with the long-lasting Brownwater tradition - a soccer game in the morning, a barbecue for the entire Willamette MBA community and the famous float down the Mill Stream.

Join WU alumni at Providence Park to see the Portland Timbers take on D.C. United! Along with the great seats to one of the biggest games of the year, guests will receive a barbecue dinner package that includes a choice of pulled pork, chicken breast or tofu, bakery-fresh Kaiser rolls, coleslaw, popcorn and fresh baked cookies for dessert. Peter Wallmark is passionate about coaching and mentoring people as they progress in their careers. Peter retired from Nike in June 2007 as a senior Apparel Division leader with more than 38 years of experience in the apparel industry. He was certified as an Executive Coach from the Hudson Institute in Santa Barbara, California, in 2009, and has since created a coaching and consulting practice, Peter Wallmark and Associates. His focus is individual leadership development, career stewardship, team building and change management. Peter was an economics major at Willamette and received his MBA in Marketing from the University of Oregon.

Part three of this in-depth series, Managing Your Career, will focus on discovering ways to actively manage your career and create professional opportunities for yourself.

GSE alumni and community partners are invited to a celebration to commemorate the impact of the Willamette University Graduate School of Education’s faculty, staff and alumni, and to recognize the many positive contributions they have made – and will continue to make – to K-12 education in Oregon and beyond.

This special event is planned in connection with the Graduate School of Education's 2014 commencement ceremony, GSE’s final cohort of women and men whom we will welcome as life-long members of the 25,000-member Willamette University community of alumni.

White Water Rafting & Camping
White Salmon, Washington

Join the WU Outdoors Program and current students for a half-day adrenaline rush through a picturesque canyon. The trip down the White Salmon River is an exhilarating progression through class 2, 3 and 4 rapids interspersed with quiet pools and waterfalls. This “Wild and Scenic River” is just 90 minutes from Portland.

Come just for the float or tent camp with the group at Panther Creek Campground in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Bring your own gear or rent some from WU. This is a great opportunity to experience an outdoor adventure coordinated by student leaders and to make memories with current students. Families are welcome!

Feel free to participate in all of the activities listed below, or just your favorites!

Sat. July 19 
1 – 3 p.m.  Arrive and set up camp
3 – 6 p.m.  Hike led by WU Outdoors Program
6 – 7 p.m.  Dinner – Bring your own with some to share
7 p.m.   Campfire. Bring wood, treats and stories to share

Sun. July 20
 7:00 – 8:30 a.m.  Breakfast on your own. Break down camp.
9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Rafting with Wet Planet
 1 – 2 p.m.  Picnic at Bonneville Dan – Bring your own picnic

Space is limited to 12 students and 12 alumni. $50 per person for 1/2 day of rafting and $10 per person for camping. Register beginning May 1.

Alumni Weekend

Hundreds of Willamette alumni will return to campus to remember and celebrate their undergraduate experience at this incredible annual event. Ten classes (1964, '69, '74, '79, '84, '89, '94, '99, '04, '09) will be celebrating their reunion this year, but all Willamette alumni are welcome to revisit their old stomping grounds and fond memories this fall.

Alumni WeekendBeyond giving alumni an opportunity to reconnect with old friends, Alumni Weekend will boast a plethora of fun activities - including the Bearcats' homecoming football game, class dinners and much more! This is the premier event of the year, so don't miss it!

Join alumni, current students and theater professors Susan Coromel, Rachel Kinsman and Bobby Brewer-Wallin at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland for two extraordinary plays at an unbeatable price. Susan, Rachel and Bobby will brief us on themes and costumes, and tell us how all the elements come together to create magic on the stage.
