The Entrepreneurship area of interest at Willamette provides the opportunity for you to launch your own venture and actively participate in the process of angel investing.
Entrepreneurship starts in the first year in the required PACE courses where students learn to "think like an entrepreneur," build team management and consulting skills, and write a business plan for a new venture. The experience continues in the second year where students design and launch their own new business in the two-semester course "New Ventures to Launch" and take part in Northwest angel investment groups through the two-semester course "Venture Investing." Willamette’s unique “New Ventures to Launch/Venture Investment” experience was recently ranked as a top 10 entrepreneurship course in the U.S. by Inc. magazine.
In addition to entrepreneurship courses, students prepare for their career by ramping up their knowledge and skills in all the functional areas required for successful decision-making in new ventures: marketing, finance, accounting, management systems, sales and industry analysis.
The elective courses listed in the column to the right are recommended for students interested in Entrepreneurship. Students may select courses from the list and from other areas of interest to build a customized individual program that meets their specific goals.
Elective courses in each area of interest are offered every year. It is possible that a specific course may not be offered in a given year and that previous courses will be replaced by new courses. Current and recent course schedules are available at http://www.willamette.edu/mba/for_students/full_time/course_schedules/index.html
