ILACA Study Abroad Programs

Welcome to the ILACA Consortium website! Willamette University administers a number of study abroad programs on behalf of the ILACA Consortium of liberal arts universities across the region. ILACA stands for the Independent Liberal Arts Colleges Abroad and includes liberal arts universities and colleges from Washington, Oregon and California.

The ILACA Consortium offers the following programs to consortium members. Not all universities participate in all programs. Students from member institutions should consult their home campus study abroad coordinator to determine if a specific program is available to them.

Granada, Spain

Designed to develop competence in all communicative dimensions of Spanish language, the Granada program also fosters intercultural skills development and engagement with cultural others with intentional programs.

The Galway program offers a combination of National University of Ireland, Galway courses and class provided by the accompanying WU program faculty leader.

The "Art Semester" program is accompanied by a PNCA at Willamette program faculty leader and includes courses from our partner university, Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM).  Spanish is not required to participate.

The "Democratic Institutions and Citizenship" program is accompanied by a WU program faculty leader and includes courses from our partner the CEPA Foundation, European Study Center.  French is not required to participate.

Summer Scotland

Willamette is the only North American school with permission to send students to the Ness of Brodgar site in Orkney, Scotland in a beginning and advanced archaeology field school.  Non-WU students are welcome to apply and participate via WU.
