The writers, designers, photographer and project manager, along with our partners in Web Development, look forward to working with you on your continuing and emerging communications and media relations initiatives. Our priority is to provide excellent service and communication advice. To assist you in identifying an initial point of contact, the primary focus of each of our staff members is outlined below.
If you would like to submit a Willamette story idea or news item to our team, you may send your suggestion to wu-stories@willamette.edu.
Our writer creates public awareness of Willamette's students, faculty, staff and alumni by producing strategic content for web communications and campus publications, particularly the homepage of the university website. The writer also works with media relations to use this content to help strengthen Willamette's identity and reputation.
Our media relations director works with reporters and key audiences to promote news, stories and successes of people, programs and research at Willamette. Journalists are encouraged to contact media relations directly to leverage Willamette's expert faculty and staff. Media relations manages the Willamette University Media Guide and also publicizes Willamette activities and events.
The design team serves the university community by producing an array of print and, in conjunction with the Web Development team, electronic materials that support our institutional mission and strategic plan. As with all university communications, the design work is expected to both reflect and advance the Willamette University identity. These designs will also be translated into electronic media where appropriate. Projects include, but are not limited to, brochures, annual reports, viewbooks, catalogs, posters, invitations and HTML email.
The university photographer documents the life of the university through ongoing creation and cataloging of high-quality images of the Willamette community, including still photographs and video.
The web development team provides leadership and guidance to ensure that the web and other digital delivery formats are effective communications tools for external and internal audiences. They develop and implement web site designs and content creation tools which promote unity and cohesion within Willamette's vast web space. Web development’s ultimate goal is to create a consistent, polished, and professional user experience for the variety of audiences who will access our site. They will be glad to assist you with your web and HTML email related projects.
