Hallie Ford Museum of Art holds spring break activities for families
SALEM, Ore. — Families are invited to participate in “The Hunt Is On “Again’” between March 22 and March 30 as well as a special Gallery Talk that is designed for kids at the Hallie Ford Museum of Art on March 25.
“The Hunt Is On ‘Again’”
The hunt for art begins by picking up this year’s new “Family Guide” at the front desk at the museum. Kids are encouraged to use the clues and their knowledge of art to find specific artworks in the galleries and to win a prize once they complete the hunt! From the ancient to the modern, from shipwrecks to incredible edibles, adventure and fun are around every corner. The “Family Guide” is included with museum admission and students 17 and under and children receive free admission.
Gallery Talk
On Tuesday March 25 children and their favorite adults, are invited to a free public tour that is designed for kids. Travel through different time periods and cultures with docent Merrilee Zenone as she gives a guided talk that explores the Carl Hall Gallery, the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Gallery, and the Mark and Janeth Sponenburgh Gallery. Learn the real and surprising reason the Egyptians outlined their eyes with black, and hear the incredible story behind a beautiful Native American mask that involves a man lost at sea and how he found his way home.
Financial Support
Financial support for "The Hunt Is On 'Again'" has been provided by proceeds from the "ABC: An Alphabet Book from the Hallie Ford Museum of Art."

About the Hallie Ford Museum of Art
Oregon's third largest art museum features works by Pacific Northwest and Native American artists, and includes a diverse collection of traditional European, American and Asian art, as well as artifacts that date from antiquity. Frequently changing exhibitions include lectures, special events, tours, artist demonstrations and educational opportunities for children and adults.
The museum is located at 700 State St. in Salem. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. The galleries are closed on Monday. General admission is $6, $4 for seniors and $3 for students 18 and older. Students 17 and under and children are admitted free. Admission is free for everyone on Tuesdays.
