Insurance
Due to the high cost of health care in the United States, Willamette University international students and their accompanying family members are required (each semester students are registered for classes) to have health and accident insurance equal to or greater than the following coverage:
- Medical benefits no less than $50,000 per (for each) accident or illness
- Medical evacuation (assisted transportation to home country provided to a seriously ill person) to the insured's home country no less than $10,000
- Repatriation (transportation of dead body to home country) of remains no less than $7,500
- A deductible not to exceed $500 per accident or illness
Willamette offers a health insurance plan that meets and exceeds the above requirements. The cost varies each year, so contact our office (oieadvising@willamette.edu) for exact amounts. The insurance premium for six months is automatically added to your bill at the beginning of each semester. Payment is required at the time tuition and other charges are paid.
To enroll in the Willamette International Student Insurance please complete Option A on the Insurance Enrollment and Waiver Application form and return the form by January 16th, 2012 to the Office of International Education. This form provides the OIE with the information necessary to enroll you in our insurance plan.
