Information for DACA Students

You Belong at Willamette

At Willamette University, we believe every student deserves the opportunity to pursue higher education in a welcoming, supportive environment. We are committed to fostering an inclusive community where all students, including those who are undocumented or DACA recipients, can thrive. You belong here, and we're here to help you every step of the way.

No proof of citizenship or employment authorization card required to apply.

You do not need to disclose proof of citizenship to apply to Willamette University. Our admissions process is holistic, considering all aspects of your application—academic achievements, personal experiences, and more.

No additional documentation, such as an Employment Authorization Card, is required for admission.

  • Complete the Common Application, Coalition with Scoir or Willamette Transfer Application. Answer questions related to your citizenship accurately based on the options provided, which include DACA and Undocumented. You may provide a Social Security Number, if you have one, or leave the field blank.
  • Review the Application Process page based on your prior educational experience. Students who have yet to graduate from high school, or graduated from high school and not completed college coursework should follow the instructions for First Year Applicants. Students who have graduated from high school and enrolled in a two- or four-year college full or part time should follow the instructions for Transfer Applicants.

Willamette University utilizes the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine financial need and eligibility for various aid programs. However, undocumented students are not eligible for federal aid. DACA students with a Social Security number can complete FAFSA to receive a Student Aid Report (SAR), which can help in applying for private, state, and institutional funding.

Oregon residents who have undocumented status, DACA status, Temporary Protected Status (TPS), or a valid U-visa should submit the Oregon Student Aid Application (ORSAA).

Tuition fees at Willamette are the same for both in-state and out-of-state applicants.

  • Merit-based scholarships are available to all incoming students, including undocumented students, with no separate application required.
  • We encourage students to explore external scholarship opportunities through organizations like TheDream.US and Golden Door Scholars. Ensure the validity of these opportunities by checking for application fees and reviews.

All students must have health insurance. If you already have coverage, ensure it meets the standards of the Willamette Student Health Plan.
